From September 29th to October 2, IIA Canada hosted its sixth annual National Conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The theme of the conference was "Be here and be transformed". As such, the program emphasized innovation and leading practices in the profession. WindReach was active at the conference, and presented on the auditing of public policy development. "Big P" policy-making is the means by which governments set direction and priorities. It's a complex and messy process, and it's fundamental to the business of government, but is it auditable? If it is, how does one go about the task? And if you do manage to audit it, what happens? Carmen Abela from WindReach and Rosemary Stephenson, Chief Audit and Evaluation Executive at Public Safety Canada answered these questions in a thought-provoking presentation held on Monday, September 30. Keeping with the theme of auditing in the public sector, Carmen also be facilitated a pre-conference workshop for public sector auditors on Sunday, September 29.

On Friday, May 10, 2013, WindReach hosted its 2nd Annual Fabulous Ladies Night at Fraser Café's Table 40. The evening brought together a superb group of women from all professional walks of life. The common thread: their fabulousness! But more than a networking event for local women leaders, this year we celebrated and supported a great cause - Plan Canada's Because I am a Girl initiative. This great charity works tirelessly to end gender inequality in the developing world, promote girls' rights and lift millions of girls - and everyone around them - out of poverty. Our daughters are blessed with privilege and security, so we must give back. And give back we did: our donations from this fabulous evening raised over $3,000.00. Thanks to all who attended and stay tuned for next year's plans!
